I should probably update, shouldn't I?
It's not like anything exciting has happened though.
Work's the same, despite school starting yesterday. Rather than have my hours cut back which I was expecting, Pete just shuffled me & Rob around so I have pretty much the same number of hours as before. I guess I shouldn't complain, but I was kinda looking forward to going down to 4 days a week.
School started yesterday, as I said. I'm looking forward to my aikido class tonight, and kinda glad my earring went ahead and came out already. Can't imagine a martial arts class would be fun with a fresh hole in the head.
I'm not going to talk about my (total lack of a) love life here, because it's depressing. All I'm going to say is Joe needs to have another party.
And since Veronica wanted me to talk about work (link), I'm gonna talk about work.
Sonic is totally stupid. The higher-ups there are skating full speed without brakes towards the cliff that is bankruptcy.
The Drive-thru is the. worst. idea. ever. It completely goes against everything that Sonic is supposed to be about. It makes corporate money though, because people are sheep and think that the drive thru is faster. It's not any faster, and 9 times out of 10 it's slower. But more importantly, people don't tip in the drive thru, which hurts the carhops. Does corporate care about that? Course not.
The wierdest thing is that it really doesn't bring in that much more business. It just diverts a lot of our old business.
The Quick Pay machines are the second worst idea ever. (Credit/Debit machines at each stall, automatically run for the order amount, no option for a tip) It forces our customers to carry cash to tip us. I mean come on. Friendswood is totally cashless town. Corporate has the attitude that the customer shouldn't feel pressured into giving us a tip. I completely fail to see how having the OPTION for a tip is too much pressure. You go into a restaurant, you'll see a line on there for a tip, and sometimes even a suggested amount(based on percentages). Unless corporate thinks that all of our customers are that susceptible, in which case I should probably go around selling them drugs. Peer pressure, man. Sonic says it works. :D
And then this is just plain shitty planning on their part.
We just had our menus totally revamped. Combo numbers shuffled, items taken off, prices raised, etc. Now here's the kicker.
A month after we just had those menus printed and installed at a fairly considerable expense to the stores, corporate decided to add a new drink: Diet Dr. Pepper.
Is it on these new menus? Obviously not. So now we have little banners and crap everywhere, just like we do for each month's promo. I understand we need to promote a new item so they know we have it, but this isn't a one month promo(or even an extended summer promo) it's a full time addition to the menu.
So my question is, why in the flying hell did they not decide this sooner so we could have the menus printed with "Diet Dr. Pepper" on them?
